If your hands are dirty, just stick 'em under the faucet and pump. We have a salt water foot pump at the sink and electric salt water deck wash as well.
Propane is safe. I love it for cooking, but it isn't the best at heating. We've got a Force 10 Propane heater, which is basically a burner below a thick bronze cone leading to the chimney with a stainless shroud. We just got two fiberglass 20lb tanks on amazon at $90 each, filled for $16 each, and that is 6 months to a year in fuel, depending on if we use it to heat or just cook. It is too cheap to pass up. Get a solenoid and a two way valve, and you can either tie them down (previous owner) on deck or build a locker, as I am about to do right behind the tiller head in the cockpit.Venture Minimalistshttp://ventureminimalists.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8501759687333743794.post-46887532806276018662012-03-11T11:30:11.000-04:002012-03-11T11:30:11.000-04:00Hi guys> I look forward to hearing more about t...Hi guys> I look forward to hearing more about that propane hot water. On Traveller (another Luders 36) there is a weird little electric hot water heater (under the portside settee) which can be used with shore power> that's going to go>
I'm considering getting rid of the Princess 4 burner/oven propane stove, too as I simplify the boat systems. But what to replace it with?
The thing is the boat uses 3 different fuels: diesel, propane, and kerosene for the heater>. I'd like to get that down to just 2.
Any suggestions?
I do have two, hand-held showers tho> one in the head and one in the stern lazerette> the stern unit is Very useful for hosing off in hot weather, but not private at all>. The water pump for the whole system is a little Jabsco pump (3.5 amps, I think) which lives in the little locker under the stove. I like your idea of a foot pump, too for those times when you just need a little water>
Just thinkin' out loud...
db//db//noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8501759687333743794.post-40721916677114584802012-03-22T17:46:55.000-04:002012-03-22T17:46:55.000-04:00Just wanted to say congratulations on your recent ...Just wanted to say congratulations on your recent improvements to your sailing/liveaboard situation.
